Ideas:

What was the best session that you have attended so far at TRLD?

How do you want to use Podcasting?

What was your favorite vacation?

Explain a concept or problem that your students could listen to.

Record

Open up Gargageband and choose FILE>New and then New Podcast.

Click on one of the voice tracks (male or female).

Plug in the microphone and use the red button to record. If you don't like how it sounds delete it and record again.

Record in small segments (a sentence or so at a time) so that if you make a mistake it is easy to redo. When it is all put together it will sound like one recording rather than pieces.

On a Mac-Garageband is easy and has music!

On a PC -Audacity is free software to download.

Edit and Save

Save on your computer as an audio file.

An audio file is about 1 mb per minute in size.

NOTE FROM TONY VINCENT: Teachers who would like to produce a single episode instead of a series are invited to participate in the Our City Podcast. Students from around the globe are invited to produce an episode all about their home towns. It's a great way to try out podcasting with a project students enjoy.

Let's stop this nonsense of teachers needing to master a technology and leverage the knowledge, experience, and adaptability of the students! They [the students] ought to be the creators not just consumers.

Alan Levine, CogDogBlog

A great podcast, like an engaging web site, can increase class attendance by sparking student interest to lean more about the subject matter.
