OUR FIRST GRADE TEACHERS

Nine Planets

Here's what first graders learn:
Reading:
- Constructing Meaning.
- Left to right directionaliality.
- Sentences and Proper Nouns start with Capital Letters. 
- Spaces between words.
- Difference between whole words and letters. 
( Using stories and books)
( Writing and composing)

Mathematics:
- Problem Solving and display data, create and interpret bar graphs, 
design and continue patterns, sort objects, using simple strategies, 
describe reasoning.
- Operations and Place Value.
- Geometry and Measurement, two dimensional shapes, pennies, nickels, 
and dimes; time to the half hour, inch and centimeter.

Science: 
- Balancing and weighing.
- Plants.
- Space.
Scientific Invesigations:
- soap
- organisms ( worms, crickets)
- life- cycle
- variables, fair tests

Geograpy:
- landforms, top, bottom, near, far, left and right; use a simple map.

History:
- compare lon ago and today

Economics

Health:
- Drug Awareness
- Self- esteem- All people have feelings.
- The Body
- Bones and muscles
